In saying yes to following him that day, [John's disciples] were also saying yes to:
o
Come and see…that I [Jesus] don’t agree with the ways of
the world—where privilege and power run the show, rather than humility and
love.
o
Come and see…that what you’ve been taught to
think about people who are different from you is not the mindset with which God
thinks.
o
Come and see…that I will ask you to recognize
the image of God within the very people in whom you do not want to acknowledge it.
o
Come and see…that when you witness people who
are in need of help that it is your job as a follower of mine to do whatever
you can in the name of God to assist them.
o
Come and see…that this way of life with me at
the forefront will not only be rewarding, but it will also be challenging and,
at times, even heartbreaking.
o
Come and see…that division and disunity is not
what the God of Life desires for Creation and that God expects you to partner
with God in the holy work of reversing those very evils throughout the entirety
of your existence.
What are we looking for
this morning? Will we say yes to Jesus when he says to us, "Come and see"?
